Dude. Our cat is lazy. She has grown lazier and lazier with each week of her little life.
Did you know that male lions sleep 20 hours per day?
Rosa is shedding (our snake just shed his skin, too, actually). We've decided that all the furniture in our house should match Rosa's fur, just to make our house look a bit less, um...cattified.
I am beginning my summer reading list. I need suggestions. I think I need some more "new" books. I'm sort of in a slump, trying desperately to make up for all the novels that I did not read in high school (because I went to Orrville) or college (because I was busy in my education classes, many of which were pretty worthless). So, I want books that are GOOD. Like really, really good. I don't want any books written by authors that have a new book every month.
Maybe I should join a book club. I think I like to keep books and people separate. I don't think I really want others' opinions of the books I read. I like to just savor my own point of view of books, I think. Unless the people in my book club were definitely cooler and smarter than me; then I'd respect what they have to say. Which there are a lot of people smarter than me, but I think most people that are smarter than me don't have time for things like book clubs.
I would like being in a book club with Veronica and Alison. And my Aunt Vicky and Autumn. Cathy and Mom, I don't know about you guys. You read some pretty weird stuff. I know my Mom would hate most of the books I read and it would make me feel negatively towards my books. And Cathy, you read some freaky stuff. I'd have nightmares.
I had a nightmare lastnight that I was in a concentration camp. I was going to be sentenced to death by electric chair, but I escaped with a middle-eastern girl named Marta and a black kid named Jose. We were all about 14 in my dream. And I think my name was Octavia.

Christmas List
Did you see that they're putting GPS systems in cell phones now? Sweet. I am so putting THAT on my Christmas list. Here's to never getting lost again!
I'm a bit concerned about the use of cell phones in kids and teenagers. They're a little psychotic about them. I'm glad text messages did not exist when I was a teenager, and most kids didn't have cell phones (I did though, thank goodness!). God only knows what would have come of that.
GPS systems in cars won't work while the car is in drive as a safety precaution. GPS systems in phones WILL work while the car is moving, so you know who is going to be multi-tasking while driving, right? Me! :)

Blog Etiquette
Let me just say that I am very grateful SOME people are posting, as I feel others have been scared away by my recent outbursts.
I don't know if there is such a thing as blog etiquette, but I have seen more than one major faux pas not just on my website, but on others. The stupid mistake someone made on mine was to, very obviously, confront me (or maybe just be difficult, or funny, I don't know) but did not sign their name. This made me uncertain of how to feel or react.
It's really okay if someone does not sign their name on someone's blog comments, but really, it's not okay when one is saying certain things. Common sense.
It is not okay, if one is a member of the opposite sex and they leave numerous comments, like a comment every day, unless he/she is married or dating the person, or if both people are single.
It really isn't okay to write a commentary on someone's blog. This has never been done on mine, but I've seen it done before. For goodness sake, this isn't the New York Times. It's just a few sentences written once in a while for entertainment purposes. For example, in the last post, I mentioned something about Republicans and Viagra. I really don't know if every Republican has stock in Viagra or how pharmaceutical companies even work. I'm a first grade teacher, for goodness sake. I have hearts and butterflies to cut out on the weekends. There is no time to research everything I write about.
The thing that's most scary about politics is that if you choose to write about it on a blog, you had better know what you're talking about. And, just so you all know, I do not know what I am talking about. I know I don't know what I'm talking about.
But I sure do love manatees :)

society
There will always be women who "like, act so high school," in their dealings with conflict, love, and business. My mother and I have come to the conclusion that most women who act like this obviously do not have a wonderful mother like I do, to train them in the proper civilities of dealing with people.
I myself regress at times to being "like, so high school," in my perceptions of myself and others, so much so that I may even dare to ask my husband, "Am I prettier than her?" This question, I've told him, is to always be answered with outrageous compliments on my behalf, even if they are lies (which of course, they are not lies).
Young men below the age of 20 are usually very appalling and transparent in their schemes except to their most sought after prey--innocent young women about their age. These young women are sometimes desperately hoping that they will unveil from this ferret-like creature a very complex personality, full of passion, pain, and um...maybe some money.
Men aged 21-40 sometimes reach the most ridiculous stage of post-adolescence where they believe themselves to be heroes, are very cocky, and according to research, cause the most car accidents. Big surprise. Whenever I see a car doing something absolutely insane, it is always a man of this age.
When you are kayaking in a beautiful, calm river, where there are "NO WAKE" signs and "No Wake, Manatee Area" signs, and an enormous, brand new speedboat speeds by with four very wealthy looking people over the age of sixty inside of it, I can almost guarantee you that all those people are Republicans, they are completely ignorant of others' feelings (including manatees'), and are completely ruining any hope for a "more perfect government" when on one hand they promote saving lives of unborn children, and with the other they kill anything that is less than human just so that they can have a good time for five minutes, when it might have been a better choice to just get some Viagra, since you know they must own stock in that pharmaceutical company, and have a good time for 5 minutes, five hours, whatever, that way instead of endangering an extremely beautiful, mystical, endangered species such as the manatee and making a very, very poor representation of the elderly, of Republicans, and of whatever else they so categorize themselves.
Those are MY reflections, for now, on society.

Humbled
God is teaching me tough truths.
Like, not everyone is going to like me. Some people will hate me.
I need to be more aware of others' feelings.
I need to stop being so sarcastic. Sarcasm is basically saying what needs to be said in a real chicken sort of way. If I have something to say, I need to just say it.
I need to work on my speech/language. Meaning, I really need to practice being encouraging and uplifting to others.
Ah, it's difficult.
Why do people have to be so overly sensitive? It just ruins EVERYTHING! See, there I go again. Why do I have to be like that?
