The Muskie Reunion

That's right, there was a Muskingum Reunion right here in southwest Florida and I drug John all the way to Fort Myers so that I could see Ransom Clark Dr. Helen Obenchain-Clark and Dr. Kokovich and his wife...oh yes, and the beloved Anne C. Steele.

Now, in case you are not a Muskie Alum, I should let you know that these are really old off-the-wall people. Dr. Obenchain has been married something like three or four times and she married our Vice President of something or other my freshman year of college, about 4 months after she met him, which was also about 4 months after she moved to Ohio. So yes, my professor (my really strange, old professor) was dating this funny, short, raspy-voiced man who retired from the CIA to be a lowly Vice President of something or other at good ol' Muskingum College. He and Helen then built a massive house which she filled with Ethan Allen furniture and antiques AND made his cat stay downstairs in the basement (she hated his cat)...(he had a putting-to-bed ritual for his cat)...(the cat had its own bathroom).

Dr. Kokovich was my Intro. to Hell--I mean, Education professor. Well, what can I say? I learned from the best.

He swore Kari was on QVC and he said that if he were my principal, he would have known better than to have spanked me.

Professors should never say that word--"spank." It just sounds...ew.

He also hated his wife's cat and told us how he would kick it every time she turned her back.

Anyway, Annie Bannie Bo Dannie made a presentation of all the things happening at Muskingum, and it was really, really neat. Did you know they've raised 39 million dollars in the past four years? And that the new Caldwell Hall is absolutely paid for? And that they're building a new student center in the Hollow? Very cool, I think.

You should have seen the old people's faces light up when they heard all the neat things happening at Muskingum. I mean, these people were Muskie Class of 1939, 1946, 1950, etc. John and I were doted over quite a bit, to say the least. At the end, we were even complimented on our "demeanor." I guess one old guy was really impressed that we could sit still for an hour while Annie Bannie Bo Dannie gave her schpeel.

Oh, and I told Dr. Obenchain that Lindsay and Tim are getting married in June. She and Ransom were absolutely shocked! Ransom's words were, "Well, that's an interesting couple!"
